"Sunda hus" sustainable material investigation. Photovoltaic panels, green roof, greywater collector. A vertical park that contains environmentally friendly materials. A roof which reaches out and protects from rain and sun. SUSTAINABILITY FOCUS: The construction is composed by a material called Thermowood, which is heat-treated wood. The wood itself is a renewable material that once it's heat-treated, doesn't need a chemical impregnation or paint. The hole construction becomes maintenance-free and environmental friendly. During time the 4 types of climbing plants on the roof together become a cover; the plants absorbs CO2, offer a shelter to smaller animal species, absorbs rainwater, provide shade and give a beautiful appeal. At night the lamps on the roof utilizes the energy which the solar panels have generate during the day. Wasted wood from the construction can be used to produce furniture for the meeting spaces. RANGE OF MEETING SPACES The roof reaches out to the entrance of the buildings. Over the open space the roof expands to become wider and creates a weather protection for the meeting spaces. By using different types of climbing plants and different amounts of glass sheet for rain-cover, diverse spaces are created. The spaces can be decorated with purpose made furniture made from the construction waste wood. Different types of sitting opportunities like furniture and hammocks create an exiting mix.
