PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Larvik has lost its connection to the sea. The waterfront that was once the heart of the city connecting it from east to west and from north to south has become a boundary. Our proposal turns this development around and reintroduces the waterfront as the living heart of Larvik. We propose creating new connections, not with bridges and tunnels, but with urban squares, parks, sight lines and walkways.

PARK BRIDGE

Bøkkerfjellet is connected with Tollboden by a 'sky park'. The vegetation and paths of the park continue on a bridge creating an eye catching extension of the park and a green link over roads and rails.

ACTIVITY

The inner harbour will offer activities for everyone at every time. A combination of large generic areas and smaller more specific spaces utilize the potential of a situation where water, land and city meet.

WATER SQUARE

Here Larviks meets the world. Boats from different countries dock in the marina. A mix of restaurants, galleries, cafés and apartments line the walkways where locals and visitors blend. The water square could for example, be the hub for a large sailing competition, the size and disposition of the square combined with the other activities in the area makes it perfectly suited.
