PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
In this competition for a residential area and a retirement home KKA set out to create apartments in dialogue with the surrounding nature. The site is situated in the centre of Mölnlycke, Härryda Municipality.
CONTEXT
Hönekulla village is a resource in the center of Mölnlycke with potential as an area both for recreation and for living. Natural and cultural values, beautiful old trees, stone walls and views can not be used today because of the area's inaccessible terrain. In connection with the development of the area, these values can be made avaliable to all people living in Mölnlycke.
The siteplan has an urban character along the main road and is gradually shifting in to a more natural landscape upwards the slope. The entire area is criss-crossed by trails that connect the buildings with nature. Parking is mainly in connection with the area's main street. The stormwater is drained throw open canals and ponds creating smoth landscape features.
MATERIAL IN DIALOGUE WITH SURROUNDING NATURE
Facades are covered with three different materials; dark stone, wood and light green fiber cement panels, all of them are in dialogue with the surrounding nature. Green roofs and solar cells covers the buildings.
THE APARTMENTS
The apartments are compact and functional. The angled volume of the house gives a better view from the apartments. The angled volume also gives the houses an interesting and distinct expression towards Mölnlycke. Most living rooms and kitchens openings faces the evening sun and the beautiful view of the northwest. All apartments have spacious rooms and storage. All units also have access to generous balconies, terraces or gardens.
