PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The Bergen municipality launched a competition to design a new building on the towns major central marketplace. This was our proposal.

By collecting all functions in a compact building with a small footprint the square can be used as a public space in the future as today. The resulting big open market space gives opportunities to different types of activities such as temporary markets, a meeting point, outside bars, exhibition spaces, light installations etc.

The public room reaches into the building and to the public balcony on the top floor. Here visitors are given a beautiful view over the market space and the harbour!
